Fair Wind, Inc.
Fair Wind Cruises
Located in Keauhou-Kona on the Big Island of Hawaii, Fair Wind Cruises has been offering snorkel excursions since 1971. We offer two vessels with two very unique snorkel experiences.
Our snorkel destination on Fair Wind II, historic Kealakekua Bay, is without question one of the most relaxing areas for snorkeling - maintaining clear visibility and very calm waters throughout the day. Kealakekua Bay was designated a marine life sanctuary in 1971. Since that time, Fair Wind continues to work with the state as stewards of the area to help educate guests on protecting this marine environment. As a result, you will see a variety of living corals and fascinating fish species. In addition, this area is rich in Hawaiian history and includes the site of the historic Captain Cook Monument. The land the monument sits on actually belongs to England and is the only place you can view British soil while visiting Hawaii!
Our newest vessel, Hula Kai, has been designed and built to accommodate guests who seek the very best in luxury, comfort, and technology. Our Hula Kai cruise offers the advanced snorkeler a way to explore some of Kona's most unique and less traveled snorkel destinations along the spectacular Kona Coast shoreline.
We have taken great consideration in making our cruises available to all skill levels and ages! Our destinations, highly trained crew, and years of experience offer a safe and memorable cruise. We have floatation devices, view boxes, and snorkel instruction available for those needing additional assistance. Plus, our vessels were specifically designed with two custom staircases to make entry and exit of the water safe and easy.

Historic Kealakekua Bay has been considered one of the most pristine snorkel locations in Hawaii. It was designated as a State Marine Life Sanctuary in 1971, helping maintain large populations of tropical fish, coral, and other various marine life for future generations to experience. Throughout this time, Fair Wind has worked closely with the state as stewards of the area, helping educate guests on preserving and protecting this unique natural environment. As one of the original boat tour companies on the Big Island, it's a responsibility we're honored to have.
Being a family-run business, we make sure our cruises are enjoyable for all skill levels and ages. Our two custom staircases make entering and exiting the water safe and easy. Our floatation devices include boogie boards with windows, "noodles", custom view-boxes, and inner-tubes so the whole family can enjoy the water. We also have a 15' water slide and high dive platform.

Hula Kai Morning Cruise |
 |
|
Hula Kai is an exciting new addition to Fair Wind cruises. This luxurious 55' high-tech hydrofoil design combines first-class comfort with exhilarating cruising speeds (28 mph) to many spectacular locations along the remote South Kona coast. Hula Kai features comfortable individual seating with arm and head rests, freshwater showers, private restrooms, expansive deck space, plenty of shade, incredible food (breakfast and barbecue lunch), plus the utmost in personalized service.
Decades of experience allow our captains to find the best weather and water conditions on the Kona Coast. Most often, we'll snorkel at remote Pali Kaholo - a site only accessible by the high-speed Hula Kai. While at Pali Kaholo, those seeking a bit more adventure are welcome to take a guided tour through spectacular sea caves. Formed by relatively young lava tubes from the Mauna Loa volcano, these sea caves offer a glimpse into the amazing (and constantly changing) geology of the Big Island.
