The Hawaii's Plantation Village reveals the story of the 400,000 people who immigrated to Hawaii to work the sugar plantations. The Plantation features 30 original and replica homes and buildings representing each ethnic group's lifestyle from 1900-1930.
Step back in time to when 'sugar was King'. Come explore a sugar plantation village and ethno-botanical garden featuring more than 25 historic homes reflecting the cultural diversity of the islands. Hear personal stories of struggle and triumph revealing how plantation workers from China, Japan, Korea, Portugal, Puerto Rico, Okinawa and the Philippines ventured to Hawaii in search of a better future. By adapting and blending their ways of life, these pioneers together with the Native Hawaiians created a new, thriving multi-ethnic society.
