Hawaii Maritime Center
The Hawai'i Maritime Center was founded in 1984 to preserve Hawai'i's rich ocean heritage and educate visitors and kama'aina alike on its importance. The origins of Polynesian migration, providing the catalyst to the founding of the Hawaiian people are trooted in deep-sea voyaging and matrime tradition. The Hawai'i Maritime Center serves as home to this history in Hawai'i and presents these traditions through a variety of exhibitions, educational programs and events. As as island state, Hawai'i's history culture, economic development, patterns of migration and immigration are a direct result of its maritime history. Posessing over 40 separate exhibit experiences, the Center introduces visitors to numerous ocean-related themes ranging in scope from Polynesian voyaging traditions to Hawai'i's biological uniqueness. The Hawai'i Maritime Center is also the home of the world renowned sailing vessel the Falls of Clyde, the only four-masted, steel-hulled ship left in the world.
